So Lena and I were wandering around Ginza looking for a place to eat. We we about to give up and go to the Mos (burger) Cafe when we came across a menu display for 天狗/Tengu! What really sealed the deal for us was a note saying “From Canada” on the front… We think it was the matsutake mushrooms that was from canada www.
First up, everything was seriously cheap! It made us worried but we were too hungry to change our minds. We had :
Lemon sour – 460¥
Kale sour ( wtf Lena ) – ¥460
Diced beef steak – ¥390
10 pieces of boiled gyoza – ¥390
4 yakitori sticks ( 2 gizzard, 2 chicken& negi ) – ¥120 ea
4 chicken wings on a stick – ¥120ea
Butter corn – ¥290
Grilled squid w/ mayo – ¥490
Godiva milk – ¥480
First up was the drinks. I liked my lemon sour because it hid the alcohol taste way better than Lena’s kale sour, srsly who would pick a vegetable drink… Lena thought it was rather average and didn’t have enough alcohol…
Her second drink, the Godiva milk was really good. It was a tasty chocolate milk with a slight hint of alcohol at the end~
Second up was the diced beef steak on a stone plate. It was surprisingly good, especially considering the price. Sauce was a bit salty, but the meat was a lovely medium rare.
Then the yakitori– delicious! Lena thought the gizzard was a bit tough and chewy but I liked it. She also thought it was overall a bit bland, but for the price we were still happy~
The gyoza… Was alright. Not bad, but nothing amazing. Then again for the price— no real complaints lmao.
Hey y’all this is Lena here and I’ll be taking over the post.
Let’s start with the yakitori! The meat of the chicken was grilled to perfection with a slight char to it, just the way I like it! The meat was juicy and there was a slight crunch when you but into the yakitori. The spring onions between the pieces of meat was also sweet and slightly charred. Delicious!
Then there was the grilled chicken wings. The skin of the chicken wings were slightly crunchy while the insides were juicy and tender. No surprise at all considering that the chicken wings are one of their top 8 specialities on the menu! Perfect with a glass of beer.
The grilled squid was delicious! Nicely seasoned, not too chewy and with a slight charcoal taste. I preferred eating it without any mayo while Lena preferred it with mayo www really surprising.
Lena enjoyed feeding me a spoonful of her butter corn, while dropping a few on my legs;;; it was… Alright IMO. I’m not a big fan of corn… But she said it’s super good with alcohol. I prefer my squid www. After awhile Lena said that the corn was too salty www
